Ticket terms

What a ticket gets you
One person's entry to the edition named on the ticket, for the date and venue shown. Tickets are sold in limited numbers because the room has a fixed capacity, and once a price tier is gone it does not come back.
Paying
You reserve a seat on this site, then send the amount shown to the Telebirr or CBE account we display. Paste your receipt link or transaction reference on the payment page so we can confirm the transfer (who paid whom and how much). You do not need to put the order code in the bank's reason field.
Your seat is held while you pay. If the transfer has not arrived by the time the hold runs out, the seat goes back on sale and you may have to buy again at whatever the current price is. If you pay and the hold has already expired, contact us — we honour the price you were quoted where we can still seat you.
Your ticket is issued once we confirm the money has landed. This is checked by a person, not a machine, so it is not always instant.
Your ticket
We send you a link. That page is your ticket — screenshot it, save it to your home screen, whatever is easiest. A screenshot scans exactly like the live page, so a flat battery on the network is not a problem.
Each ticket admits one person, one time. The first scan is the one that counts. If the same code is presented again, our door system shows the time it was already used, and we will not admit a second person on it. Do not forward your ticket to anyone you do not intend to give your seat to.
Lost the link? Go to Find my ticket and enter the number you bought with.
Transfers and refunds
You can pass your ticket to someone else — just tell us the new name before the day so the door list matches.
Tickets are non-refundable, because the seat is taken out of a capped room the moment you buy. If you tell us at least 48 hours before doors, we will move you to the next edition at no cost instead.
If we cancel or move the event, you get a full refund or a seat at the rescheduled date — your choice. That is on us, not you.
At the door
Bring the ticket and be ready to give the name it was bought under. Doors close when the room is full, and arriving very late may mean the structured networking has already run.
We may refuse entry or ask someone to leave, without a refund, for behaviour that makes the room worse for everybody else — harassment, aggression, or turning the night into a sales floor. This is a room built on people being willing to talk to strangers, and that only works if it feels safe.
Programme changes
Speakers, performers and the running order can change. We will tell you if the date or venue moves, using the number you bought with. A change of speaker is not grounds for a refund; a change of date is.
Filming
The event is photographed and filmed for promotion. By attending, you accept you may appear. Tell the team on the night if you would rather not, and we will work around you — see Privacy.
Limits of our liability
If something goes wrong, what you can recover from us is limited to what you actually paid for your ticket. We are not liable for indirect or knock-on losses — a missed connection, a deal that didn't happen, travel or accommodation booked around the night, or lost income.
We run the event with care, but we don't control the venue, the power, the network, or the other guests. Nothing here limits liability for anything the law says cannot be limited.
If you cause a problem
If someone brings a claim against us because of what you did — at the event, or through this site — you agree to cover the cost of dealing with it. In practice this covers the rare case: damage to the venue, harm to another guest, or using the attendee list or photographs in a way you were asked not to.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of Addis Ababa. That is where the events happen, where payment is made, and where nearly everyone reading this is.
Before anyone goes near a court, message us. Every problem so far has been solved with a conversation.
