Who we are
Addis Connect runs professional networking events in Addis Ababa. This site sells tickets to those events. If you want anything on this page explained, or want your details removed, message @addis.connect on Instagram and we will action it.
What we collect
- Buying a ticket: your name, mobile number, and email if you give one. The number is required — it is how we send your ticket and reach you if the venue changes.
- Joining the waitlist: name, mobile number, email if given.
- Sponsor enquiries: name, company, mobile number, email, and your message.
- Finding a lost ticket: the mobile number you bought with, to match it to your order.
- Automatically: your IP address, used only to rate-limit the forms against spam, and held in memory rather than written to storage.
We do not ask for and never store card details, bank credentials, or your Telebirr PIN. Payment happens directly between you and Telebirr or CBE; we only see the receipt details needed to confirm the transfer landed with us.
Advertising and the Meta Pixel
This site loads the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. It records that a browser viewed a page, started a checkout, or completed a purchase, and it sets Meta's own cookies so a sale can be matched back to the ad that produced it.
When an order is confirmed we also send Meta a server-side purchase event. Your phone number and email are hashed with SHA-256 before they leave our server — Meta receives an irreversible fingerprint used for matching, not your actual number.
To opt out, block third-party cookies or use your browser's tracking protection. Nothing on this site requires the pixel to work — you can buy a ticket with it fully blocked.
Where it goes
- Netlify hosts the site and stores orders and tickets.
- Telegram receives an alert with your order so we can confirm your payment by hand. This is a private channel that only the organisers can read.
- Meta receives the advertising events described above.
We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to sponsors. Sponsors receive audience numbers, never a guest list.
How long we keep it
We only hold something for as long as it is doing a job, and then we delete it rather than letting it sit:
- Ticket and order records — two years after the event, so we can settle a dispute or prove someone was admitted. Then deleted.
- Door check-in records — ninety days after the event. After that, whether a particular person walked in is of no use to anybody.
- Waitlist entries — until the next event you could have attended, plus thirty days. If you never bought, we stop holding your number.
- Sponsor enquiries — two years, because sponsorship conversations restart between editions.
- Unpaid orders — thirty minutes. An abandoned checkout releases its seat and the details go with it.
What survives deletion is a count — that a ticket was sold at a price — with no name, number or email attached. You can also ask us to delete your record earlier, at any time, and we will.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message @addis.connect and we will respond within seven days. You can stop hearing from us at any time by telling us so — there is no penalty and your ticket stays valid.
Photography at events
Our events are photographed and filmed, and that footage is used to promote future editions. If you would rather not appear, tell a member of the team on the night and we will keep you out of shot — or tell us afterwards and we will remove any frame you are in.
Under 18
Our events are for working professionals and are not intended for under-18s. We do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 18.
